Hi folks,
ReScript 12 just got released, and a key ingredient in this version was online contributions. However you spin it, none of this would have happened without our passionate contributors.
That said, I’m curious: are there any hurdles when getting started contributing to ReScript or the wider ecosystem?
For context: I’ve contributed quite a bit in the F# world, including the compiler, tooling, and even projects like Fable. At some point I felt like curly braces again and started playing with ReScript. One thing led to another, and I ended up contributing to various parts of the toolchain and joining the core team.
Now that I understand most of the toolchain, I might have some blind spots about how difficult it is to start contributing. I got onboard kind of by accident; how could we make that process more structured and easier for others?
So my main question: what can we do to improve the new contributor experience?
I’d love to hear if there was ever a point where you wanted to scratch your own itch but stopped because something got in the way.
Try and think broadly about this: the compiler, build system, tooling, bindings, website, create-rescript-app, tutorials, and beyond.
